Move or improve?
New-builds are getting smaller and smaller because developers are building as many houses as possible on small plots of land. For developers more houses means more money, after all they don’t have to live in them! But, for us this means a small house, on a small plot, with lots of small rooms.
You may think that you’re buying a 3-bedroom house, which is typically 31% more expensive than a 2-bedroom house, when in fact the most common 3-bedroom new-build home is only 77% of the recommended size RIBA – the space equivalent to two double bedrooms!
